MAKASSAR – The spirit of cross-generational collaboration highlighted the execution of the English Camp organized by SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Unismuh Makassar from October 31 to November 1, 2026, in the Benteng Somba Opu area, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. This event serves as a tangible manifestation of the synergy between lecturers, alumni, and students of the English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, in contributing to the development of English language education in schools.
Carrying the theme "Learn, Speak, and Grow," the English Camp was designed as an interactive, communicative, and enjoyable English learning space. Through various educational activities, students were given the opportunity to develop their English skills, particularly speaking ability, while building courage and self-confidence to communicate in English.
More than just an outdoor learning activity, this English Camp became a momentum of collaboration between higher education and secondary schools through the involvement of three generations in a single community service space. Lecturers contributed through their academic expertise and experience, alumni shared their professional insights and teaching practices, while students actively participated as facilitators interacting directly with the participants.

Head of the English Education Study Program, Ariana, M.Pd., stated that this event represents an implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridarma Perguruan Tinggi), specifically community service. According to her, bringing together lecturers, alumni, and students in one initiative demonstrates that a university's contribution to education extends beyond campus classrooms to direct, practical actions benefiting society.
Furthermore, this activity holds strategic value as it provides students with a platform to apply the pedagogical knowledge and skills acquired during their studies. On the other hand, the participation of alumni proves that the bond between the study program and its graduates remains strong through meaningful contributions to educational development.
This three-generation synergy highlights the importance of building a collaborative, sustainable, and mutually supportive academic ecosystem. Lecturers, alumni, and students not only shared roles to ensure the event's success but also jointly delivered an English learning experience tailored to the learners' needs.
Through this program, the English Education Study Program of FKIP Unismuh Makassar hopes to continue strengthening and expanding its partnership with SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Unismuh Makassar through various future educational and community service projects.
